As the owner of Peak Business Consultants, Maki Pombo is deeply committed to the mission, values, and clients of the firm. With over 17 years of experience, Maki continually strives to do more than manage the needs of customers; she endeavors to see Peak’s Consultants become valued partners to each of their clients and takes great pride in seeing financial successes at every stage of growth. Maki took over as the leader of Peak in 2006, shortly after completing her Masters in Business Administration degree from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at UNH. Since that time she has continued to build the business with the support of her talented team. Over the years, Maki has worked to both deepen the level of Peak’s client service offerings as well as diversify Peak’s client base. 

When she is not helping her clients, Maki enjoys outdoor adventuring of all kinds with her husband Matt, daughter Maya, and dogs Ruby & Leroy.

Samai Knight

Operations Director

Samai Knight is a New England native with over 20 years of accounting experience, having worked with both large corporations and small business on a wide variety of accounting related projects. Samai was with Liberty Mutual for 7 years as a Financial Analyst focusing on innovation, policy/procedure development, and financial compliance. Samai has her MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and brings a diverse mix of financial and managerial experience to the Peak team.

In her free time, Samai enjoys learning about different cultures, reading, and spending time here on the Seacoast with her family.

Kaitlyn Marziano

Kaitlyn Marziano

Operations Manager

Kaitlyn Marziano has been an integral part of our team since 2018. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Kean University. After college graduation, she made her way up to the Seacoast area, by way of New Jersey, where she began her tenure at Peak. As our Operations Manager, Kaitlyn collaborates with the team to ensure business functions operate smoothly. She has been instrumental in streamlining processes, enhancing productivity, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

When Kaitlyn isn’t at Peak, she can be found traveling with her husband and pup and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys reading and being outdoors.

Tammie J. Carney

Tammie J. Carney

Senior Consultant

Tammie Carney comes to Peak after 37 years in corporate America.  Starting out as an accounts payable clerk she worked her way up to a position as a corporate controller of a multimillion-dollar company with physical locations in four states.  Now in her “retirement job” Tammie enjoys bringing her experience in accounting and her organizational skills to her clients at Peak.  During the corporate climb, she earned a BS in Business Administration with an accounting concentration from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.  Attending classes at night while working full time as a single parent, she is proud to have graduated Summa Cum Laude. 

These days, work is balanced with travel from Florida where she and her husband moved in 2021 to Maine and Texas where the children, grandchildren, and now a great grandchild are located.  Time at home is spent on work and various volunteer activities in the church and community, spending time with friends, and an occasional visit to the Tiki Bar for a refreshing beverage.

Kelly Preisendorfer, CPA

Kelly Preisendorfer, CPA

Lead Consultant

Kelly Preisendorfer is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of accounting experience. She comes to Peak via a long tenure with a local public accounting firm where she was focused on the taxation of partnerships and small corporations, primarily in the real estate industry. In addition to her corporate practice, Kelly has worked with many smaller local businesses ranging from services and retail to restaurants and nonprofits. She has a CPA designation along with a master’s degree in Accounting from Southern NH University and holds a bachelor’s from Plymouth State.

Kelly and her husband have two young kids, Greta & Simon, and love to go camping/travel as a family. They also cannot get enough of the live music scene and enjoy road-tripping to music festivals of all shapes and sizes.

 

Jeanette Chambers

Lead Consultant

Jeanette Chambers is an experienced business and accounting professional who has been a key resource at Peak since 2010. With a strong background in financial management and accounting, she currently serves as Lead Consultant/Controller, responsible for full accounting cycle reviews, recommendations, and reconciliation for Peak’s clients. She has experience working with businesses of all sizes, specifically with medical practices, property & real estate organizations, non-profits, law firms, and retail businesses. Her skills include financial management, analytics, information systems, budgeting, forecasting, and HR/payroll administration, and she is proficient with accounting software such as Excel, QuickBooks Pro, and Great Plains. She has a business/accounting degree from Texas A&M.

In her free time, Jeanette enjoys gardening, being outdoors, and traveling.

Nikki Vizena

Nikki Vizena

Lead Consultant

Nikki Vizena received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Chestnut Hill College in PA and immediately began her working career in the financial world as an Investment Specialist. She took her working knowledge of finances and rolled that into a two-decade tenure in the Industrial Manufacturing Industry as the Controller for an Internationally owned company on Massachusetts’ North Shore. She brings to Peak an experienced voice well rounded in accounting knowledge with a special “geeky” proficiency in creating and managing Inventory Control systems.   

When Nikki isn’t at Peak, she can be found at her home away from home, the sandy white beaches of Hilton Head, South Carolina or traveling with her husband to some new island adventure. She enjoys reading, gardening and long scenic car drives through beautiful New England.

Katie Buzuvis-Zautcke

Katie Buzuvis-Zautcke (aka Katie B) has been a core member of the Peak Team since 2014. Katie began her tenure at Peak as our do all/know all office ninja. Since then, she has leveraged her terrific interpersonal skills and efficiencies to the consulting side of the business. Her emphasis is, and always has been, focused on the customer, and it is her attention to detail that has always set her apart. These days, you’ll find her juggling client communications and crunching numbers.

As a former restaurant owner, Katie learned to keep many balls in the air – while maintaining her focus as well as her sense of humor. When she isn’t helping clients, Katie is a dedicated Yoga instructor and has been teaching on the Seacoast since 2000. She enjoys spending her free time relaxing with her husband and daughter.

Melanie Perley

Melanie Perley

Consultant

Melanie Perley is an experienced Accounting Strategist with a demonstrated history of working in various roles in business and back-office management. Her particular focus for most of her career has been on the accounting side, working in various roles from office manager to controller for small to mid-sized businesses. Her skills include account reconciliation, accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and financial accounting, and she is proficient on the QuickBooks platform.

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a focus on accounting, from the University of Phoenix. She resides on the North Shore of Massachusetts where she raised her three lovely children. As an outdoor enthusiast, you’re likely to find Melanie hiking or mountain biking in the White Mountains and traveling in search of new outdoor adventures with her dog, Boo Radley.

Sonny Dahood

Sonny Dahood is a New Hampshire-based business professional who brings a variety of experiences from multiple industries. She is a jack-of-all trades professional who has dealt with many facets of operations and administration. She has spent several years prior to Peak managing books for multiple organizations and small businesses ranging from custom flooring to industrial equipment providers. Sonny wore many hats working as office manager for an industrial firm whose territory included Boston/North Shore Mass and New Hampshire. Prior to these roles Sonny was the financial representative in a hospital where she managed AP/AR, a large payroll department, and comprehensive budget/reporting tasks across the organization. Sonny enjoys exploring outdoor adventures & live music with her husband and their daughter. Sonny studies herbalism in her free time, and she is also a certified birth and postpartum Doula. As an entrepreneurial venture, Sonny creates and markets herbal wellness products from her home in central New Hampshire.

Erin comes to Peak with more than 15 years of experience in Banking and finance. Erin worked her way up from being a teller into management and eventually back office and accounting for multiple financial institutions in the Seacoast area. In 2016 Erin completed a Bachelor of Science in business Administration with a focus in Banking and Finance from the New England College of Business and Finance in Boston, MA.

When she is not assisting Peak clients with their financial needs she is working on finances for her family’s own small business. In her free time Erin enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and their dogs either traveling, working in the garden or out on the water paddling.

Heather McCormick

Heather McCormick

Administrative Assistant

As our office Admin, Heather is the pulse of our client service team, she welcomes clients and visitors alike and is always happy to answer questions or direct people to the right contact. She is our front-line liaison to the team and is essential to our team-based work environment. After graduating from UNH, Heather spent 20+ years in the Healthcare Administration field before transitioning to Peak in 2023.

Outside of the office, Heather and her family can be found at the beach in Rye, or at home tackling endless renovation projects.
